Jonathan Garrard
Cabinet Making & Furniture Restoration
From Restoration to Creation — We Bring Furniture to Life
ABOUT ME
Jonathan Garrard Ltd
Traditional woodworking tools have always been a passion. My interest in their design and function inspired me to study furniture restoration and cabinet making at the London College of Furniture. After leaving with a distinction, I worked in the trade in London as a restorer and cabinet maker. I also taught woodwork, cabinet making, restoration and frame making at all levels.
In 2003 I set up my own cabinet making and furniture restoration business and in 2006 the family and business moved to Llandeilo, Wales. I continue to restore furniture as well as fine cabinet making, making one off designs, bespoke kitchens and storage solutions.
My client base is wide, from local customers to ones further afield - the Palace of Westminster, the National Trust and the V&A.
Whenever I have the opportunity to design and make my own pieces, I take inspiration from the form and grain of locally sourced wood, Welsh oak in particular, allowing the material to influence the final design.
Another passion is teaching. I have employed apprentices through the CITB scheme and I run woodwork courses from the workshop.
I have an open workshop and welcome enquiries. All commissions and projects are supported by detailed written estimates and drawings if appropriate.
